We are excited to announce a major renovation project taking place at Maplewood Park, located at 1504 17th Avenue East. The 10 acre park was established and developed by the Park District in the early 1990’s, and is ready for updates! “The continuing development of the City, and the ease of access to Maplewood Park makes this location ideal for these exciting amenities and improvements”, Executive Director Erbstoesser states.

New improvements will include, a 12,000sf. inclusive and accessible playground with rubber surfacing, a 4,000sf. obstacle course (think Ninja challenge type course), restrooms with drinking fountains, two open shelters, two updated ice rinks (one equipped for pickleball in the warm weather), new walking/biking paths, expanded parking off of 17th Avenue and relocation of the sledding hill. There will be no changes made to the Activity Center or the Veterans Memorial.
We are investing a total of $2.6 million dollars in this renovation. The West Fargo Park District was recently awarded a Garrison Diversion Conservancy Grant for $202,300 which will be put towards this project. The rest of the funding will come out of the general budget of the Park District.
Maplewood Park will be closed to the public throughout this summer, with major construction beginning in the next week. The completion of the park renovation is scheduled for Fall 2021.
