SEASONAL POSITIONS

Positions in our Facility and Park Maintenance Departments may require applicants to be over the age of 18 due to equipment use restrictions.

BASEBALL/SOFTBALL COACH - YOUTH

Individuals must be at least 16 years of age. Responsibilities include supervising and coaching youth t-ball, baseball and girls’ softball games for ages 5-12 year olds. Individuals must possess good public relation skills with children and parents. Complete knowledge of baseball/softball rules and the ability to lead practice or drills and coach games. Hours are Monday-Thursday mornings, early afternoons and Tues/Thursday evenings after 5pm, June 8-July 23 with 16-22 hours per week.

Pay $10.0-12.00  per hour.

BASKETBALL AND SPORTS SAMPLER STAFF

Individuals must be a least 16 years of age. This position will feature working in our sports sampler classes and basketball camps.  Responsibilities include leading drills and activities for youth.  Helping setup and maintain equipment.  Must have knowledge of majority of sports. Hours vary throughout the summer. Most hours are early afternoon to early evening on weekdays. Experience working with youth is preferred

Pay $11.00-15.00  per hour.

BIRTHDAY PARTY HOST

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, ensuring customers are greeted and made to feel welcomed, ensure birthday party experience is the highest quality, make and serve pizza and beverages to party guests, light cleaning and set up of party rooms, monitor party and guests. Applicants should have good customer service skills, attention to details, ability to work independently and feel comfortable in a fast-paced environment. Hours are Friday, Saturday and Sundays days and evenings.

Pay $11.0-12.00  per hour.

CAMP-A-DAY STAFF

Individuals must be at least 18 years of age. Responsibilities include leading recreation activities, games for students with special needs. Staff will implement day plans, lead field trips, go swimming and more. Must be available. Mondays- Thursdays 11:00AM until 3:30PM in June, 2020. Must be comfortable working with people with special needs.

Pay $11.00-13.00  per hour.

CONCESSIONS WORKER

Applicants should have good customer service skills, a positive attitude, ability to work independently, feel comfortable in a fast-paced environment and confident with handling money and making change. The ideal candidate will be able to maintain safe working conditions and a sanitary work area following food safety guidelines and other park policies. Some evenings and weekends will be required.

Pay scale $9.00-12.00 per hour

RECREATION INTERN

The goal of the Recreation Internship is to provide students with an opportunity to gain professional experience and learn more about the field of recreation in a park district setting. During the internship, students will assist with various programs, projects and special events for youth and adults. Hands-on experience may include, but is not limited to, coordinating leagues/programs, creating budgets, planning a community event, supervising staff and assisting with office duties. This position requires exceptional customer service skills, the ability to work cooperatively with a team, computer proficiency in Microsoft Windows-based programs, strong leadership skills and the ability to manage time effectively.  A determined work ethic is essential. Interns will be expected to work a variety of hours, including office hours, evenings and weekends. A resume and cover letter are required to be submitted with application. The deadline to apply is Monday, March 23.

Pay $12.00-14.00  per hour.

SEASONAL PARK MAINTENANCE

Applicants must be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver’s license. Responsibilities include operation of riding and push mowers, string trimmers, planting and weeding, ballfield maintenance, and other park maintenance as needed. Hours will be 7:00am-4:00pm Monday-Friday with a one hour lunch break.

Pay $12.50-14.00  per hour.

SOCCER COACH - YOUTH

Individuals must be at least 16 years of age. Responsibilities include supervising and coaching youth soccer games and instructing drills. Individuals must possess good public relation skills with children and parents. Complete knowledge of soccer rules is mandatory. Mondays and Wednesday evenings are required. This position is from July 6-29.

Pay $10.00-13.00  per hour.

VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE COACH - YOUTH

Applicants will be coaching youth grades 3rd-6th.  Coaches will be responsible for assisting League Coordinator with team practices.  Coaches will be responsible for all aspects of practice and game play. During matches coaches from each team will take turns to ref a game. Youth leagues will run on Monday and Wednesday nights, June 15-July 29. Mondays will be practices and Wednesdays will be games. Must be able to work 5:00-8:00pm. Must have knowledge of volleyball and some volleyball reffing. Must be 16 and older to apply. Must be 18 and older to apply.

Pay $11.00-13.00  per hour.

VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE COORDINATOR - YOUTH

Applicants for this position must have volleyball experience (either playing and/or officiating), and be familiar with High School and USA Volleyball standards. Youth league will be 3rd-6th grade players. The League Coordinator responsibilities will include having equipment ready for league play and practices (balls out, nets set at correct heights, practice plans prepared, etc.), managing coaches, ensuring timely play by teams, returning equipment to storage and performing light cleanup of play area.  Ability to create practice plans for practice nights and relay them to your coaches.  League coordinator will interact with players at practices and during games. Must be able to work 5:00-8:00pm. Monday and Wednesday evenings from June 15-July 29. Mondays will be practice and Wednesdays will be games. Must be 18 and older to apply.

Pay $13.00-17.00  per hour.

WEEKEND SHELTER CLEANER

Applicants must be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver’s license. Responsibilities include cleaning of various shelters throughout the city on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Hours are Saturday and Sunday 6-10am with more hours available if interested. Will primarily work independently.

Pay $13.00-15.00  per hour.
