Adaptive Recreation – Camp A Day

The Camp-A-Day Adaptive Recreation Program is for youth with developmental disabilities. Campers will be provided with recreational activities, including crafts and field trips. Register according to class attended during the 2015-2016 academic school year. The Park District provides transportation for the field trips, however, it is the parent’s responsibility to arrange transportation to and from Camp-A-Day. All participants must have a current IEP from the school district and complete the application for Special Needs Programs prior to attending camp. This form will be available online or at the park office and should be turned in with the registration form.

Bale and Pallet Gardening

Learn how to construct a bale and pallet garden. Free hot dogs and pop to all participants. Kits to build these gardens will be available for purchase during the class. For more information please contact Cass County Soil Conservation at 701-282-2157. This is a free class but you must pre-register.

Baseball – Day-time and Evening Tball

This beginner league for boys and girls focuses on participation, skills and fun. Day-Time T-Ball is coached by West Fargo Park District staff. Evening T-ball is coached by volunteer coaches.

  • Registration deadline is April 11. There will be no baseball the week of July 4-8.
  • Please request appropriate T-shirt size for your child, as we will not have extra shirts to exchange.
  • A maximum of 12 players will be placed on a roster, exceptions may occur.
  • Team schedules will be emailed and posted online by May 20. Team rosters will be set up by elementary school they plan to attend once they are in 1st grade. Registrations will not be accepted by mail, fax or in the office after the deadline. To register after the deadline, you must come to the park office. Late fees will apply. 
  • Individual and team photos will be taken.  Dates and times will be posted and emailed in June.
  • Carpooling: For carpooling purposes you may request to play with two other individuals, however these two individuals must be in the same level and school as your child. These registrations must be mailed together or turned into the office at the same time. To help prevent errors in this process we encourage participants not to use online registration if making carpool requests. This procedure only applies to registrations received by the registration deadline. Requests to play on the same team will not be guaranteed. Siblings will be grouped together only if requested on registration form.
  • Volunteer coaches are needed for Evening T-ball! We would not be able to offer this program without the help of volunteer coaches. Please indicate on registration form if you are interested in being a coach.
  • Equipment:  Players should bring own baseball glove with them to practice every day.  Bats will be supplied by the West Fargo Park District. Rendezvous does not have a water fountain, so please be sure your child brings their own water when participating at this location.

The Minor Baseball League is for boys.  This league is focused on fun, participation and skill development.  A single elimination tournament (seeded randomly) will be played at the end of the season.  The Championship Game will be played on the evening of July 21 at North Elmwood Park.

Baseball – Parent/Tot T-Ball

This program is offered in the summer and is for 4 year old boys and girls who want to have fun and learn the basic skills such as throwing, fielding, running bases and batting. Parents will work hands on with their child while being lead by a qualified instructor. Youth must be 4 years prior to July 28, 2016, no exceptions! 

There will be two 3 week sessions, twice a week for Parent/Tot T-ball. Please bring a glove and water bottle for T-ball. Schedule will be posted one week prior to the start of each session. Jerseys will be handed out the first week of each session of Parent/Tot T-ball.

Basketball for Beginners

Hoop it up and join this fun basketball camp! Players will learn basic skills, fundamentals and techniques of the game. Participants will work on ball handling, shooting, rebounding, defensive footwork and participate in shooting and ball handling drills. All participants will receive a t-shirt.

BB Gun Basics

This program is an introduction to BB gun shooting and basic firearm safety. Classes will consist of individual marksmanship practice and an occasional quiz on the topics of gun safety and marksmanship. Each participant will require an adult to load and help aim the BB guns. All required equipment including BB gun, ammunition, and eye protection are provided. For the safety of all involved, any student that demonstrates inappropriate or disruptive behavior will be removed from class immediately.

Beehive Camp at RRV Fair

Campers will get down and dirty learning about bees while building wooden beehives at the Red River Valley Fair. Campers will learn how to construct our precut beehives in three beehive building stations: box station, framing station and painting station. In-between building the beehives, a bee specialist will teach the campers about bees and their habitat. Request t-shirt size on registration form.

Bone Builders

RSVP+ ND invites you to take part in Bone Builders, a FREE exercise program that strives to work against the negative effects of osteoporosis. By doing some simple weight training, individuals can protect themselves from osteoporosis related fractures by increasing muscle strength and bone density. Benefits of the program are improved balance, increased energy and mobility and increased bone density.

Canvas for Two- Gallery on the Go

Get your ART on with “Gallery on the Go!” Come experience an art session of creative learning and fun in this special parent/child session! In this class you will create “Kissy Fishy” with your child-each person has their own canvas and they will match up to make one creation. Step-by-step art instructions are provided. All supplies will be provided, including aprons. Participants take home their 11″ x 14″ canvas after class. Pair must be an adult with one child.

Clay Class – Beginners

Carrie Savageau, local artist and art teacher, will share her passion for clay art. Create pottery pieces by using hand building techniques such as the coil and slab methods. Finished projects will be ready for participants four weeks after each class and can be picked up at the Park Office.

Crafty Kids Art Class

Youth will make a variety of projects using various mediums of art including many types of paints, chalks and modge podge. Craft items will be made of wood, paper and various materials.  Each week will incorporate nature, summer fun and other themes. Kids will be able to take home art projects each week!

Creative Cartooning

Learn to create and draw cartoon characters! Steve Stark, area cartoon artist and well-known Mr. History, will teach step-by-step methods on how to draw people, animals and lettering. Each day something new will be taught and anyone who enjoys drawing is invited! Supplies will be provided.

Discovering Music

This adult/child class is a great introduction to music. Adults will work hands on with their child while being lead by a qualified instructor. Participants will learn the fundamentals of music through singing, movement, marching and rhythm while playing with different musical instruments. Due to limited space, only the participant and one adult will be allowed to attend this class. Each session will have a different theme.

Did you know physics, biology and chemistry are part of our daily life? This class will explore the many ways these sciences impact the things you do everyday. A qualified instructor will lead participants through various experiments and activities to gain first hand knowledge of the impact science has.

The Farmers’ Market & Beyond was established in 2007 by the West Fargo Park District. The market provides local growers and food, art and craft artisans an opportunity to display and sell items to the public.

The focus of the market is to provide local growers with the opportunity to bring fresh produce, flowers, bulbs, jams, jellies, dairy products, meats, herbs and berries directly to the public. The Farmer’s Market & Beyond provides an opportunity to sell these unique, local goods.

Fresh Produce

We are actively seeking farmers and growers of fresh, local produce to join our farmers market anytime throughout the season.

Prepared or Processed Food

Food prepared or processed for resale in the State of North Dakota at the Farmers’ Market must comply with the North Dakota State University Food Safety Booklet.

Arts & Crafts

Items sold at the market must be made by the applicant. No imports or reselling is allowed.

Home-based Businesses New!

All home-based businesses are welcome. Please contact Allison Hauschild at 433-5360 to reserve your days and times.

Food Vendors

If you would like to be a market food vendor, please contact us. This is a great fundraising opportunity for service groups in our area.

Booth Fee

Vendors are required to pay a booth fee each day they attend the market. These fees help cover the cost of advertising and other expenses. The fee is $15 per days. No power is available, but generators are acceptable.

Non-Profit Organizations

Groups that focus on health, wellness, fitness and nutrition are always welcome to set up booths at no charge to help educate public on healthy lifestyles and promoting healthy communities.

Flag Football

Flag Football league is a recreational, non-competitive league designed for the participant to have fun and learn the basic skills of flag football.

  • All players need a mouth guard, football spikes are recommended.
  • Please request shirt size on registration form if you do not have a reversible jersey from previous season that fits. Jerseys will be handed out by the first game.
  • Please include school attending in 2016-2017 school year on registration form.
  • Practices will be held on Monday or Tuesday or Thursday evenings at 5:30pm or 6:45pm, according to schedule. Games will be played on Tuesday and/or Thursday and/or Saturdays beginning September 10.
  • Team schedules will be emailed and posted online at wfparks.org by August 5.
  • West Fargo Parks is working with Fargo and Moorhead Parks to offer Flag Football for Grades 4-6. This is a great option for youth who are not ready to play tackle football. Teams in these age groups will play games against Fargo and Moorhead, and may travel to those sites. Please refer to your child’s schedule for more details.
  • Teams will be limited to 14 players per team. Space is limited so be sure to register early!

Funky Junk Art

Get your ART on with Gallery on the Go! Come and experience a relaxing evening of canvas painting in this adult class! Ice Skating Lessons

Lessons are open to ages 3 and older. If your child is new to skating and is planning on playing hockey for the 2016-2017 season, it is highly recommended to take these skating lessons. Skaters will work on balance, edge work, forward and backward skating and many other skating skills. Skate rental is not available.

Adult/Tot
If skater needs assistance, is unable to get across ice alone or falls often this level is recommended. Instruction includes getting up from a fall, marching in place, forward marching and beginning stops.

Level 1
If the skater can make it across the rink without assistance. Skaters will learn the skills for skating and gliding forward, stopping, two-foot hops, and bubbles, and an introduction to backward skating and gliding.

Intro to Air Pistol

This program is an introduction to shooting sports. The primary course objectives include instruction of safe air gun handling practices, sight alignment, trigger control and an introduction to international style shooting events. Junior All-Stars

This is a program for boys and girls 4-5 years old.  During this sports sampler class, participants will be introduced to the rules and basic skills of bowling, soccer, track, kickball, T-ball and various exercises. Participants will have fun while learning to work in a team and follow directions from a qualified instructor. The last day of class will be at Stars & Strikes Bowling Center.

Kinder School Creative Time

Kinder School is for boys and girls ages 4 and 5 (by June 9, 2016) that have not yet entered kindergarten. This program targets personal growth, creativity and imaginative thinking. Youth participate in arts, crafts, story time and other activities. Children may register for both sessions. Parents need to pick their children up on time.

The West Fargo Park district is part of the FM Metro Basketball League. The FM Metro league consists of teams from the FM area and Casselton. The objective of the program is to provide an opportunity to learn and enjoy the sport of basketball through the development and operation of a supervised basketball program for 3rd through 6th grade boys and girls. The program will seek to develop and promote the ideals of good sportsmanship, teamwork and skill development with emphasis on having fun. Please request jersey and short size on registration form. Mini Yoga Masters

Looking to find your child’s inner peace? During this introduction yoga class for youth, participants will be taught basic yoga skills in unique ways. Participants will have fun while working on balance, flexibility, strength and encouraging a calm mind. This class will be taught by a qualified yoga instructor. Yoga mats will be provided, athletic clothes are recommended.

Missoula Children’s Theater

The Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT) is the nation’s largest touring children’s theatre and has been touring extensively for 40 years. A tour team will arrive with a set, lights, costumes, props and make-up, everything it takes to put on a play, except the cast. The show is rehearsed throughout the week and 2 public performances will be presented at the end of the week. All MCT shows are original adaptations of classic children’s stories and fairy tales with a twist. Three enrichment workshops presented by the Tour Actor/Directors are available for a small charge. Nature Detective Camp

Go on a scavenger hunt to learn about nature, birds and animals. What did you discover? Why do birds and animals feet determine where they live? Learn the answers to these questions and more during this fun camp! This is a “Rain or Shine” event, activities will be moved inside a shelter if raining.  Camp will meet in the enclosed shelter in North Elmwood Park.

RRV Fair 2-Day Camp

Campers will experience the Fair from a new prospective. Each day will be packed with activities including a backstage tour of the Grandstand and barns and making a fun project to take home! New this year to the fair is Street Beat on the Y-94 Stage. Street Beat is a high energy drum and dance show for you to sit back and enjoy or dance to the beat of the drums. Scrapbooking

Participants will be introduced to many basic scrap booking techniques and complete a small homemade picture book to take home. Please bring 30-40 of your favorite pictures, stickers and some scrap booking tools you may have. Special scissors, cutters, glue, some stickers and paper will be provided.

Senior Activities

1. The West Fargo High Rise (Cass County Housing Authority) provides activities for
seniors. Call 282-3443 for their schedule.

2. Meals are provided at Faith Lutheran Church (127 2nd Ave. E, West Fargo) Mondays through Fridays at noon by Valley Senior Services of Cass County. To register, call 356-2047 by noon on the day before your scheduled meal or sign up at the meal site. There is no set price, but a donation of $3.50 is suggested. Activities are scheduled usually on Mondays, Tuesdays & Thursdays following the meal (such as monthly birthday celebration, bingo, games, speakers, tours, etc.). Monthly calendars are available @ Faith Lutheran & the weekly activity schedule is printed with the meals in the Pioneer.

3. The Civic Seniors meet at the West Fargo VFW on Wednesdays 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM for cards and socializing.

The North Dakota Center for Distance Education (NDCDE) is excited to partner with West Fargo Park District to offer a new, hands-on learning program that is appropriate for students from grade three through grade eight: NDCDE’s SMARTLAB! This program is project-based and STE(A)M focused, but is adaptable to many other academic approaches. Smart Labs are 21st century learning labs led by professionally-trained facilitators, and are designed for the exploration of STE(A)M topics, including alternative and renewable energy, circuitry, computer graphics, digital communications, music, mechanics and structures, robotics, scientific data and analysis, and software engineering. There is something for every student in this lab!

Soccer – Fall

This is a program for boys and girls 4 years old to Kindergarten. Games and practices will be held during this 5 week session. All participants must have a jersey for this program. To order a jersey please use Code 1559, unless you are using your jersey from summer soccer. All participants must have a jersey for this program. Participants must bring their own soccer ball. Soccer – Summer

The West Fargo Park District and the West Fargo Soccer Club work together to offer a summer recreational soccer program for ages 4-8th grade. Ages 4-Kindergarten register with West Fargo Park District and Grade 1st-8th register with the West Fargo Soccer Club at westfargosoccerclub.org.

• The first two weeks of this program will focus on skill development. Games will be incorporated into regular scheduled time starting June 20.
• All participants need a Size 3 soccer ball. Shin guards and soccer shoes are recommended.
• Please include school and grade completed in the 2015-2016 school year. Preschool and Kindergarten students should register according to elementary school in their area.
• All participants must have a jersey for this program. To order a jersey for Summer Soccer (ages 4-Kindergarten) please use Code 1658, unless you are using your last year’s blue/white jersey.
• Team schedules will be emailed and posted at wfparks.org by May 20.

Softball – Girls Slowpitch Softball

This softball league is for girls ages 9-12. This league is focused on fun, participation and skill development. A single elimination tournament (seeded randomly) will be played at the end of the season. Championship game will be played the evening of July 21.

  • Registration deadline is April 11. There will be no softball the week of July 4-8.
  • Please request appropriate T-shirt size for your child, as we will not have extra shirts to exchange.
  • All softball levels will be based on grade completed as of 2015/2016 school year. A maximum of 12 players will be placed on a roster, exceptions may occur.
  • Team schedules will be emailed and posted online by May 20. Team rosters will be set up according to school attending, please specify the school your child attends or will be attending.  Registrations will not be accepted by mail, fax or in the office after the deadline.  To register after the deadline, you must come to the park office. Late fees will apply. 
  • Individual and team photos will be taken. Dates and times will be posted and emailed in June.
  • During the first week, participants will work on skill development and rules of the game. On the first day of baseball teams will meet at their assigned fields.
  • Carpooling: For carpooling purposes you may request to play with two other individuals, however these two individuals must be in the same level and school as your child. These registrations must be mailed together or turned into the office at the same time. To help prevent errors in this process we encourage participants not to use online registration if making carpool requests. This procedure only applies to registrations received by the registration deadline. Requests to play on the same team will not be guaranteed. Siblings will be grouped together only if requested on registration form.
  • Equipment: Players should bring own softball glove with them to practice every day. Bats will be supplied by the West Fargo Park District. For sanitary reasons, the West Fargo Park District highly recommends players bring their own helmet. Helmets will be provided for those who do not bring their own. Make sure to label all equipment your child brings with name and phone number.

Get your ART on with Gallery on the Go!  Come and experience an art session of creative learning and fun!  In this class you will be painting a “Butterfly” canvas.  Step-by-step art instructions are provided.  All supplies will be included (including aprons).  You take home your 11″ x 14″ canvas after class!  Snack and drink are provided.

Sweetheart Dance

Dance to your favorite tunes, enjoy refreshments and a corsage for the lady. The Sweetheart Dance is open to all young ladies ages 4-12 and their Dad, Favorite Uncle or Grandpa. A professional photographer will be on site to take photos for an additional charge. The cost is $20 per couple and $10 for each additional daughter.

Tae Kwon Do

This Korean style of martial art can do many positive things for kids, including building self-esteem and personal confidence. The concentration and discipline required to become successful at Tae Kwon Do can also help kids succeed in school, coordination and improved balance can help youth excel in other sports. Master Jerry Jenson, a 6th Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do and a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Hap Kido will teach youth and adults many techniques used in this sport. Tennis Lessons

Tennis lessons are offered in the summer and held at the West Fargo High School Tennis courts . These courts are located on the south side of the Veterans Memorial Arena (parking is available on south-side of West Fargo High School).

• Tennis lessons are held at the West Fargo High School Tennis courts, located on the south side of the Veterans Memorial Arena.
• In unfavorable weather, tennis lessons will be held in the Veterans Memorial Arena, 1201 7th Ave. E. When lessons are moved to the arena, a sign will be posted at the outdoor tennis courts for daytime lessons. For evening lessons, please call the cancellation line, 433-5363, for latest weather related updates.
• Tennis racquets will be provided for PeeWee level, all other participants need to provide their own tennis racquet. Tennis balls will
be provided.

Tennis Lesson Skill Levels
Participants should sign-up according to their skill level rather than their age. After the Pee Wee level, ages listed are guidelines rather than requirements. The Park District reserves the right to move individuals to another class if the one they are in has a low attendance.

Pee Wee (ages 4-6)
This class is for the youngest tennis players who want to play tennis. Tennis racquets will be provided. Parents are welcome to attend. Players must be age 4 or older.

Beginner I (ages 7-10)
Students learn basic tennis skills including forehand, backhand and serving. Emphasis on easy to learn games and drills.

Beginner II (ages 11 & older)
For players who completed Beginner I. New techniques taught with games and drills that are taught in Beginner I.

The Fargo Park District is hosting a District State Qualifying Track and Field Meet. The meet is for boys and girls ages 7-14 as of December 31, 2016. Events include: 50, 100, 200 and 400 meter dash, 4 x 100 meter relay, 800 and 1600 meter run, standing long jump and softball throw.

The first three places, for ages 9-14, in each event will advance to the North Dakota State Track Meet in Fargo.

Pre-Registration Deadline: May 6, 2016.

After May 6, 2016 – Registration forms will not be taken in the office. You will need to register on site May 11, starting at 5pm.

This youth volleyball camp is for boys and girls ages 8-16. Participants will be taught fundamental skills such as serving, hitting, passing, blocking and setting. Instructors will be local college volleyball players. Participants need to wear athletic shoes and gym clothes during this camp. All participants will receive a T-shirt. Participants should bring a water bottle each day.

Workout Wednesdays with TNT

Your child will be guided through activities designed to encourage movement exploration and provide a safe medium for your toddler’s high energy. They will work on important socialization skills as they gain the ability to listen and follow instructor’s directions. Stations and small circuits will be implemented to teach beginning gymnastic skills. This class is taught by current TNT Fitness instructors. Parents are recommended to stay on-site.
