Employment Opportunities

The West Fargo Park District is always looking for motivated employees to lead and assist with activities. New employees must complete a background check before starting work.

Full-Time position:

Arena Shift Leader (click here for more details)

Part-Time positions:

Lifeguards (June-August)
Individuals must possess current American Red Cross certification with previous experience preferred. General admission pool hours are afternoons and evenings both weekdays and weekends. Individuals will be required to supervise children and adults and enforce safety procedures, rules and policies. Lifeguards must be at least 16 years of age-$9.00 to $10.00/hour.

Summer Maintenance Staff
Applicants must be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver’s license. Work hours will be 7:00am-4:00pm Monday-Friday. Responsibilities include operation of small mowers, hand push mowers and string trimmers in the parks, planting and weeding, and other park maintenance as needed. Pay scale $9.00-11.00 per hour.

Youth Baseball/Softball Coach
Individuals must be at least 16 years of age. Responsibilities include supervising and coaching youth baseball and softball games. Individuals must possess good public relation skills with children and parents. Complete knowledge of softball/baseball rules of the game is mandatory. Hours are Monday through Thursday mornings, afternoons and evenings, June 1 to July 31. 28-32 hours per week. Pay scale $9.00 to 10.00/hour.

Soccer Coach
Individuals must be at least 16 years of age. Responsibilities include supervising and coaching youth soccer games. Individuals must possess good public relation skills with children and parents. Complete knowledge of soccer rules is mandatory. Hours are Mondays and Wednesday evenings. June 3 to July 22. Pay scale $10.00 to $12.00/hour.

Summer Concessions
This position is for our summer concessions at softball/baseball fields and the swimming pool. Applicants should have good customer service skills, ability to work independently, be comfortable in a fast paced environment and confident with handling money. Staff will also be scheduled to work water slides and front desk at the swimming pool. In addition, applicants should be able to follow food safety guidelines and other park policies. Evenings and weekends will be required for this position. Pay scale $8.00-9.00 per hour.

Zamboni Driver

Duties include, but not limited to: Operating ice re-surfacer (Zamboni), ice maintenance, facility cleaning and maintenance and sharpen ice skates. Applicants must be 18 years or older. Please complete an application and return to office or Veterans Memorial Arena.

Volunteer Opportunities

This weekend of inflatable family fun will feature many obstacle courses, giant slides, bouncy castles, Volcano Climb, Kiddie Land area and more. Bring your friends and play laser tag. Concessions will be available. This event is open to all ages. Children 12 and under must attend with an adult. This event is sponsored by Luther Family Ford, Games Galore and Moore Engineering.

Assist youth and monitor Inflatable Games – dress in comfortable shoes and clothing.

Art-Mania

Be creative, get messy and have fun while making several works of art! Learn new art techniques while experimenting with watercolors, paints, chalks and pastels. Other art projects will include wood art and fun craft items. This free event is for youth 6 to 12 years of age.

Volunteer Needs: 12:00-4:00pm 15 volunteers assist youth with making a variety or art projects.

Western Round Up

Enjoy a Rootin’ Tootin’ good time with activities including music by “October Road” free carriage rides, gunny sack races, barrel car rides, a petting zoo, roping demos, face painting, kite flying and other western games. Pony rides – $2, Inflatable Games – $2, hotdog, chips & beverage – $1/plate.  Bring your lawn chair or blanket. The event is sponsored by 1st International Bank & Trust, Luther Family Ford and Games Galore.

Volunteer Needs: Volunteers are needed from 5:00-8:00 pm to assist with set up, carriage rides, playing games, face painting, serving refreshments, parking, tear down and more!

Hawaiian Beach Blast

Dress in Hawaiian attire and enjoy beach party music with the “The Front Fenders”. Other activities will include carriage rides, barrel car rides, inflatable games, beach volleyball, giant games, face painting, kite flying and many more fun activities.Inflatable games – $2, Sno-cones- $1 and hotdog, chips and beverage -$1/plate. Bring a lawn chair and/or blanket to this evening of fun at Rendezvous Park. This event is sponsored Western State Bank, Luther Family Ford and Games to Go.

Volunteer Needs: Volunteers are needed from to 5:00-8:00 pm assist with set up, carriage rides, playing games, face painting, serving refreshments, parking, tear down and more.

West Fargo Parks Dog Show

Tuesday, August 18

Free event

Dogs will be judged and awards will be presented to the best groomed, best dressed, best trick, most unusual breed, cutest puppy, owner/dog look-alike and best of show. Visit with area pet vendors and register for great door prizes. Free hotdogs and a beverage will be served while supplies last.
Dog Show registration will begin at 5:00 pm, Search and Rescue Demo with Bud Meyers at 5:30 pm and Dog Show will begin at 6:15 pm.
Dog Show registration is free. Forms are available at the West Fargo Park District office, 500 13th Ave W or online at wfparks.org.

Volunteer Needs: 5 Volunteers are needed from 5:00 pm-7:30 pm to assist with set up, registration, judging process, agility demo set up and tear down, serving refreshments and tear down.

Honkin’ Haulin’ Hands on Trucks

The West Fargo Park District is hosting the 9th Annual Honkin’ Haulin’ Hands on Trucks. Get into the drivers’ seat of over 25+ trucks, tractors and construction equipment including a crane, snow plow, grader, pay loader, street sweeper, fire truck, bobcat skid-steer, 18-wheeler and much more. The first 200 kids will receive a free t-shirt. Youth will also receive a personal driver’s license. This is a rain or shine event. This free event is sponsored by West Fargo Park District, City of West Fargo, Butler Machinery and Luther Family Ford.

Volunteer Needs: 30 Volunteers are needed from 12:15 pm to 3:30 pm. Volunteers are needed to assist with the handing out of Driver’s Licenses, t-shirts, hard hats and helping kids on and off equipment.

Autumn Pumpkin Party

Activities will include pumpkin painting, fall crafts and games, and refreshments. Take time to “Build a Scarecrow.” You provide the creativity, clothes and accessories. The park district will provide the straw and the twine. Choose your favorite pumpkin and decorate for $4.00.

Volunteer Needs: 15 Volunteers are needed from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm to assist with set up, helping kids with Pumpkin Painting, crafts, games, face painting and serving refreshments.

Spooktacular Party

The West Fargo VFW Post 7564 and the West Fargo Park District have joined together to host an afternoon of Halloween fun. Kids of all ages can take part in the haunted maze, the mad scientist lab, balloon sculptures, face painting and cookie decorating.  Bring a camera to take a photo with the not-so-scary witch. Each child will receive a treat bag! This event is free and open to the public.

Volunteer Needs: 11:00am-2:00pm – 15 volunteers to help decorate the haunted maze and set up activity areas.

2:00-6:00pm – 30 volunteers are needed to assist with face painting, handing out glow sticks, working in Mad Scientist Lab area, monitoring haunted maze, assisting Friendly witch and clean up. All volunteers should dress in Halloween Costume. Dress in comfortable shoes.

Art-Mania

West Fargo Teen Dance

This event is a dance for West Fargo students that are in Grades 6, 7 and 8.

Father-Daughter Sweetheart Dance

Dance to your favorite tunes, enjoy refreshments and receive a corsage for the young lady.  The dance is for all young ladies ages 4-12 and their Dad, favorite uncle or grandpa.  A professional photographer will be on hand to capture this special event at an additional charge. Mothers are invited to attend the grand march at the beginning of this special evening. The cost is $20 per couple ($10 for each additional daughter). Please register by January 31st.

Volunteer Needs:
3:00-5:00 pm  –  5 volunteers are needed to help set up and decorate for the dance.
5:30-8:30 pm – 10 volunteers are needed to assist with serving refreshments, registration, and corsages for the ladies.

Easter Egg Hunt

Hunt for Easter eggs, meet the Easter Bunny and play on the inflatable games. Other activities will include a bunny and baby chick area, cupcake and cookie walk, face painting, balloon tying, decorating Easter eggs, games and crafts. This event is for ages 2-8 years old. Bring a camera to take a photo with the Easter Bunny. Easter eggs will be available for decorating. Concession will be available. Fee is $4 /participant. Thank you to 1st International Bank & Trust and the West Fargo VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 7564 for sponsoring this event.

Volunteer Needs: 35 volunteers are needed from 3:30-8:00pm to assist youth with games, crafts, Easter egg hunt area, serving refreshments, collecting tickets, handing out treat bags and clean up.

West Fargo Teen Dance

Face Painting Volunteers

Face paint at special events with the West Fargo Park District. All Supplies are provided. Special events include Winter Days Party, Easter Egg Hunt, Bike and Kite Day, Wild West Jamboree, Hawaiian Beach Blast, Autumn Pumpkin Party, and Spooktacular Party

Silk Corsage Makers

Make corsages for the little ladies at the Father Daughter Dance. Corsages can be made anytime in December or January. Approximately 225 corsages are needed. All supplies are provided.
